Description
Redwood Treated Fence Post 100mm x 100mm x 2.4 m – Heavy Duty Timber Fencing
Overview
A fence is only as strong as its posts. High winds generate massive sail-force leverage against fence panels, putting immense stress directly onto the ground-level joists. If you utilize standard, low-grade whitewood posts, they can snap or rot out prematurely within a few short years. Our Redwood 2.4m Fencing Post provides the structural mass and physical toughness needed to stand perfectly straight over a lifetime of exposure.
Unlike cheap softwoods that only absorb a thin surface veneer of chemical protection, European Redwood features an open cellular matrix that pulls preservatives deep into its heartwood core. This makes it exceptionally resilient when embedded underground where moisture, soil bacteria, and fungi are at their highest concentration. At 2.4 meters long, it provides the perfect length to construct a classic, ultra-stable 1.8m (6ft) high fence run with a deep subterranean base.
Key Features
-
Subterranean Root Anchoring: The generous 2.4-meter height gives you plenty of above-ground height while leaving enough timber to sink a solid 600mm deep into your post holes.
-
Natural Crack Minimization: Redwood’s tight grain characteristics help it distribute internal drying stresses evenly, minimizing the deep, structural face-splitting common in cheaper timbers during hot summer spells.
-
Responsibly Sourced: Milled from sustainably managed, certified European forests, ensuring an eco-friendly footprint for your landscaping project.
-
Aesthetic Adaptability: The subtle, pale-green preservative tint naturally matures over time into a warm honey-brown hue, which can be easily stained, oiled, or painted to match your garden design.

Trade Installation & Postcrete Guide
Pro Tip: When building a standard 1.8m high fence line, you should set this 2.4m post roughly 600mm into the ground. Dig your post hole approximately300mm wide to ensure a robust concrete envelope entirely surrounds the timber base.
Critical Step: If you cut the post to length or square off the top, always apply a dedicated end-grain preservative fluid (such as Ensele or a similar brush-on treatment) to the freshly exposed wood fibers. To maximize the life of the post, never bury a cut end down into the soil—always keep the original factory-treated end at the bottom of the hole. Use 1.5 to 2 bags of rapid-setting Postcrete per hole for an instant, immovable anchor.
