Description
Gate T-Hinges – Timber Gate & Door Hardware
Overview
Outdoor timber gates and utility sheds face brutal operating conditions—confronting driving rain, freezing winter frost, and heavy wind leverage. Standard square butt hinges focus all of a gate’s deadweight onto a narrow sliver of wood, often causing the frame to warp or sag over time. Our structural Gate T-Hinges provide the definitive solution for lightweight to heavy-duty domestic gates.
By welding a long, tapering horizontal strap onto a secure vertical frame plate, these hinges distribute structural tension evenly across a much larger surface area. This ensures that your side gates, log stores, and garden doors maintain a smooth, parallel opening arc year after year without dragging on the ground.
Key Features
-
Structural Load Distribution: The long steel arm acts as a solid mechanical brace across your gate stiles, binding the vertical tongue-and-groove cladding tightly to the internal framework.
-
Heavy-Duty Machined Barrel: Built around a tightly engineered central pivot pin that delivers a smooth, fluid, and squeak-free swing through thousands of closing cycles.
-
Anti-Bleed Corrosion Shield: Advanced weatherproofing treatments stop unsightly orange rust run-off from bleeding down and permanently staining your premium pressure-treated timber.
-
Multi-Size Versatility: Available in a full range of lengths to accommodate everything from a small backyard wood store door to a tall pedestrian privacy gate.

Trade Sizing & Installation Rule
Pro Tip: To guarantee your gate never sags, your T-hinge strap length should always extend across one-third to one-half of the total width of the gate leaf it is holding. When mounting, always align the horizontal strap directly over the internal horizontal structural rails of the gate rather than screwing solely into thin vertical cladding boards. This gives your fasteners maximum structural bite into solid timber.
