Description
Field Gate Hinge Set – Adjustable Hook On Plate for Timber Gates
Overview
Traditional timber 5-bar field gates are notoriously heavy and place immense structural strain on their supporting posts. Over time, ground shifting, seasonal moisture changes, and constant swinging can cause even the best installations to sag. The Field Gate Adjustable Hook on Plate Hinge Set solves this vulnerability completely.
By upgrading to an adjustable top strap, you eliminate the hassle of unhanging a heavy gate just to fix a dropping corner. A quick twist of the dual locking nuts allows you to pull the top of the gate back toward the post, maintaining a perfectly fluid, smooth-as-butter swing year after year.
Key Features
-
Clamping Double Strap Design: The long top strap distributes the gate’s deadweight along the horizontal rail, anchoring through the timber with a heavy coach bolt for maximum shear strength.
-
Anti-Theft Hook Configuration: By installing the bottom hook plate facing upward and the top hook plate facing downward, you create an interlocking anchor that makes it impossible for intruders to lift and steal the gate.
-
All-Weather Shielding: The thick, hot-dipped galvanised coating prevents ugly orange rust running from bleeding down and staining your premium pressure-treated timber.
-
Smooth High-Load Pivot: Heavy-duty 19mm pins ensure a rock-solid pivot point that easily handles high-traffic vehicle entryways and livestock pressure.

Installation & Adjustment Tip
Pro Tip: When mounting the square hook plates to a wooden post, ensure they are perfectly vertical using a spirit level. If your gate drops over time due to seasonal ground settling, don’t panic: simply loosen the inner nut on the top threaded eye-bolt, tighten the outer nut until the gate lifts back to a perfectly level position, and lock the inner nut back down tightly against the strap.
