Description
Gatemate Adjustable Hooks & Bands On Plates – Timber Gate Hardware Kit
Overview
When installing heavy timber driveway or estate gates, using standard non-adjustable hinges leaves no room for error. If the fence posts shift slightly over time or the wood absorbs moisture, your gates will quickly begin to drag on the floor. The Gatemate Adjustable Hook and Band Hinge Set is the ultimate structural solution.
By separating the horizontal band from the pivot pin with an adjustable threaded eye, this kit allows you to extend or retract the distance between the gate leaf and the post. This means you can easily fix seasonal gate sagging or binding with a standard wrench in under two minutes.
Key Features
-
Threaded Adjustment Eye: The high-tensile threaded bolt features dual locking nuts, allowing you to lock the gate securely into position once perfectly leveled.
-
Heavy Duty Hook on Plates: Robust vertical backplates distribute the gate’s immense rotational pull evenly down the face of a timber post, concrete pillar, or brick framework.
-
Stain-Free Galvanised Finish: Thick hot-dipped zinc wash prevents unsightly orange rust bleeding, keeping your premium pressure-treated timber looking clean and professional.
-
Security Coach Bolt Hole: Each strap features a specialized square punch-out near the front knuckle to accept an anti-tamper security coach bolt, preventing intruders from unbolting the gate from the outside.

Installation & Tuning Tip
Pro Tip: When installing adjustable hinges, mount the threaded eye bolt with the adjusting nuts positioned roughly in the middle of the thread. This ensures you have an equal amount of clearance to adjust the gate either inwards or outwards in the future as the timber shifts. For an essential anti-theft setup, always mount the top hook plate with the pin pointing downward and the bottom hook plate with the pin pointing upward—this locks the gate frame on its hinges so it can never be lifted off by opportunists.
